Every year a record amount of consumer electronics are sold. What happens to last year’s model? In most cases, it ends up sitting in a drawer. In the worst case scenario, it ends up in a landfill.
Flipswap wants to do something about that. Founded in 2004, Flipswap’s mission is to make sure that people know they can trade-in their old devices, so their old devices can get a second chance at life and not end up in a landfill. Most of the devices we collect are re-used. The ones that can’t be are recycled in an environmentally friendly way.
The long and the short of it is that there are people on the other side of the planet that just want a device. If they buy one that’s been flipswapped, they’re buying one that didn’t need new materials to be used, new energy to be expended or new greenhouse gases to be produced. Doesn’t that make sense?
Since 2008, Flipswap put enough phones back into use to keep over 200 tons of solid waste out of our landfills and thru our partnership with Mokugift, planted over 400,000 trees along the Earth’s equator for the phones we had to recycle! We’re not lying when we say “this forest was brought to you by Flipswap.”
