Flipswap partners with Fido to deliver point of sale trade-in program

TORRANCE June 21, 2011 - Flipswap Inc., the global leader in consumer buyback programs, has today announced that it will implement Flipswap’s proven platform to power its trade-in program with Fido, a leading Canadian national wireless provider. The new program will be named FidoTRADE TM and will be the first nation-wide trade-in program of its kind from a wireless carrier in Canada.

FidoTRADE TM will allow new and existing Fido customers to trade-in their used devices when acquiring a new one. The trade-in credit will be applied directly as a discount off the purchase of a new Fido device, or to the customer’s Fido account. Customers will have the possibility to trade-in their old device, regardless of which carrier it is coming from in Canada, the U.S. or anywhere else in the world.

The collection of used devices helps reduce eWaste that accumulates in landfills. At the same time it also prolongs the life of collected devices by re-introducing them for sale in other parts of the world, after the devices have been completely data-wiped. While the vast majority of devices collected through the trade-in process will be reused, the few that are no longer functional will be recycled in an environmentally compliant manner and a tree will be planted for each of those devices, through Flipswap’s tree planting partner Mokugift.

Starting July 11th, 2011, FidoTRADE TM will be available in 85 Fido corporate stores and later this summer, across the national Fido dealer network. Not only is FidoTRADE TM a great way for customers to get their next device for less, but it also allows them to dispose of their current devices in an environmentally responsible way.

“We are very proud to partner with Fido in offering a program that will serve as a powerful differentiator from other players in the market,” says Dave Stritzinger the CEO of Flipswap. “ It’s a win for customers, for Fido and the environment.”
